big boy bed

last weekend henry inherited his big boy bed....a very big transition that may have led to some tears.......from his mama (i know its kind of ridiculous, but i couldn't help it, he just looked so big in that bed).  i would have posted this a  lot earlier, but we had a rough start of things because the very night that henry tried it out for the first time, his...errrr.....bowels started acting up again :(  but he is good to go again and we were able to switch out the towels for real bed sheets--which henry found to be very exciting.
here he is "helping" daddy put the bed together

AND this is about a week or so later when i found the time to take some photos....after finding the time to finally finish decorating, followed by some thorough cleaning :)  the room does NOT usually look the way you are about to see it, you know, with all the toys and books placed in their proper spots

heeeeerrrreeee's henry's room!
(he cordially invites you)
this is the newly established reading nook complete with frames (finally) up on the walls.  we used some spectacular henry artwork, the poster i made for his birhtday, dr. seuss quotes, and some photos to complete the look....along with a big blue H, and the small wood block portraying his silhouette that i made a while back.
wall pockets for various nicky nacks (gotta love ikea!)
close up of some of the framed quotes :)
i also thought it would be fun to use little tyke photos of austin and i
this one of austin is my favorite--taken by a rapid city journalist
and a photo of me on a trip to the black hills (i thought it appropriate and henry quite enjoys the pony)
organization!

reading with daddy on.......the bed!
we put a side rail up while he is sleeping because he tends to toss and turn quite a bit
more details of some of the shelves above his bed
i embroidered the cute little robot :) it was fun and henry likes to point it out
his favorite thing to do in the big boy bed
well.....maybe this is.....but mama instantly quashed it :)
(and yes, that is a batman cape on the back of his shirt--velcroed on :)  he says "super henry" when he wears it)
and here are just a few fun shots i took of the boys as they were playing hide and seek.
counting to five.
we usually skip four.
 1.2.3.5.
can i go find him now?
ahhhhhh!   daddy jumps out from under a blanket on the bed.  don't know how many times we did this, but it never got old.  henry knew he would be under there....but its kind of like waiting for the toast to pop up from the toaster i think...still makes you jump :)  he would giggle soooo hard
ooooooh my goodness how i love this little man
 love. love. love.
