gardening

brittany and i did some gardening this weekend.....well we planted some herbs and a few flowers anyway :)  i have been wanting to try to grow my own herbs for a while now, so i was pretty excited when we finally had a chance to plant some.
henry helped us out of course.  just trying to bring some green to our little cement space :)
lavender--smells aaaaamazing.  kind of thinking i should have picked some up too....just to sniff.
and it's deer resistant.
so that's good?    :)
mmmmm and some chives.  i got garlic chives, and they are super tasty--and grow super fast
 brittany's basil and mint
 the little spritzer
 and dirt hauler
got some snapdragons and yellow pansies for henry
we like to pop open their little dragon mouths like puppets.  henry giggles when i make the flowers say hello :)
AND dadadada.....sprinkled some fresh chives over the mashed potatoes that night.  i was ridiculously proud of myself.  :)

spring superlatives

soooohhhmygoodness.  how can I sum up our spring? here goes.

austin's birthday, my birthday: we both got older.  and so much wiser I am sure :) EASTER was fantastic fun.  We took a trip to MN and visited everyone.  Henry thoroughly enjoyed hunting for eggs. I CHOPPED all of my hair off. The job market: a struggle.  The DANCING: amazing performance at the beginning of May.  I am now done teaching for the year. So I am no longer working after work....technically :)  I am teaching a couple of workshops over the summer.  GOLFING: has begun for Austin :)  Sunscreen has become necessary everyone.

Lately Henry enjoys:
watering the plants
riding in his special "rocket" (the carrier that attaches to the bike) and go bike riding with mom and dad
riding his own bike
riding in his wagon
(let's just say he likes to ride :)  )
playing at various playgrounds and parks
singing
playing catch
playing hide and seek
baking muffins with mommy
running away when someone suggests using the potty....
of course the list could go on :)  He is growing and learning something new every day.

and without further ado...
photos
:)

a couple snapshots from Easter
oh and I just have to mention that i sewed the cute little Easter tie that henry is wearing.  yep--kind of super proud of that.   look at all that loot.  We are still eating Easter candy.  Seriously.  Henry opened up an egg he found in his car tub and found a treat inside, which he promptly ate before i could even think of stopping him ;)

A little while ago, I decided to let Henry try some "extra sensitive" bubblebath (we had never used any before because his skin has always been super sensitive) because we really needed to make bathtime more fun, so that we wouldn't throw a stink when it was time to get so fresh and so clean clean.
he loves putting on his bubble beard

here is henry putting a sticker on his reward chart.  we have discovered that this really works well.  We were having a hard time getting Henry to sleep through the night on his own when we switched to the big boy bed.  So, every time he did sleep through the night on his own he would get to put a sticker on his special chart when he woke up in the morning.  When he got three stickers, he got to pick a special prize from the "prize box!"  Now he sleeps through the night almost every single night (when he isn't sick or something) woohoo!!!! everyone is much more well-rested now.  Since he caught on we have changed it from three to four stickers.  Also, we are using it for the potty too.....but that doesn't seem to be catching on as well :P

Last week was teacher appreciation week.  So I wanted to show Henry's daycare teachers how much we appreciate them!  He had so much fun helping me plant some pansies into little terra cotta pots--shoveling the dirt of course :)

got this great print for my birthday :)  a quote by emerson:
"live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air"
also picked up a few things from the antique store....i am developing a love for white milk glass and old pyrex dishes....why? not entirely sure.  just like it.  i've been trolling the interweb looking at all those cute old pyrex collections with funky patterns and whatnot.  someday when we have a house, I dream of having open shelving that displays all sorts of colorful, vintage pyrex :D
oh and this yellow cow creamer on clearance at target :)  haha happy birthday to me!

last weekend I had the best mother's day ever :)  My boys treated me to some fun downtown.  They bought me some books at an independent store, then we played at the toy store and went out for burgers and ice cream
 henry tickling austin.  bahahaha

Happy Mother's Day to all Moms :)
