diggin' cliff

Clifford the big red dog was at daycare today!  I sent the camera and they took a picture for us--since we know who's in the suit.  As you can see, Henry is thrilled :)

TooT BoosT

Henry rolled from his back to his belly!!!  I tried to get him to do it again to get a video but he wouldn't--of course.  Maybe it was just a crazy fluke or maybe it was the little toot he squeezed out that gave him the extra boost he needed :)   I did have to help him pull his arm out from under him because he was getting quite uncomfortable and upset with it pinned beneath him.  So, I was worried that maybe we couldn't count it as an actual roll because I aided him, however Austin says it still counts because the assist came after the initial roll--haha--we are ridiculous!  Maybe someday, if he does it again, I'll be able to tape it.

first adventure in the great outdoors

It was a lovely spring day--finally! So we thought it was about time to take Henry for a little stroll in the fresh air.

me and my little blue bear
so I may have been a little overzealous with the bundling up...but I didn't want him to get cold :)

Daddy's BiRtHdAy

Henry celebrated his Daddy's birthday in style!  We surprised Austin with a onesie we made...
and his favorite--ice cream cake!  (notice the matching father-son dimples)

Three Months

Henry is exactly three months old today!  He's getting so big-scootin' all over, smiling and chatting, rolling around, shaking his rattle.  Mommy and Daddy are pretty proud :)

sneetch stories

Story time for Henry--he loves to be read to, and The Sneetches is his favorite book of the moment.  I believe he likes the story for its moral overtones regarding the futility of harboring any prejudicial sentiments......or the bright colors.  It's probably both.
"When the Star-Belly Sneetches had frankfurter roasts
or picnics or parties or marshmallow toasts,
they never invited the Plain-Belly Sneetches.
They left them out cold, in the dark of the beaches."
"Sneetches are Sneetches
And no kind of Sneetch is the best on the beaches."

Splish Splash

Henry takin' a bath :)   He didn't like them at first, but he has definitely come around!  He tries to grab the wash cloth and lick it, and he likes to splash with his feet and hands...and he especially loves to be massaged with lotion afterward :)   That is, he loves having a bath if he isn't hungry.  And, as you can see from these pictures, eating is definitely at the top of Henry's priority list!

the latest

We have several bits of news to share and a picture just for fun:)

Henry went to the doctor on Monday to get his neck looked at again, since we were starting to get concerned about it.  In case you aren't sure what I'm referring to, Henry was born with a lymphangioma, or cystic hygroma, which is a fluid-filled mass.  It isn't related to any other disease or complications, and it doesn't hurt him at all, in fact he is oblivious to it...it probably bothers Austin and I more than it bothers him :)  Dr. Todd, the same person that looked at it right after he was born, followed up with us.  He said that Henry is a perfectly healthy boy besides the swelling on his neck, and that he can surgically remove it.  So, sometime in July, when Henry is six months old, we will be taking him to Sioux Falls for the operation.  When I asked Dr. Todd what caused the cyst he told me, "bad luck."  I guess I will have to accept that the cause is just unknown, which, if you know me, isn't easy.  I think Henry is trying to teach his mom that there aren't always answers for everything :)

Yesterday, Henry had the last of his vaccinations--don't worry Carmen, he still loves you!  We also weighed him because I was curious to see how much he had grown, and the scale read 14 pounds 10 ounces!  He did have his clothes on, so that probably added a few ounces at least.  But jeez, he gained about a pound in only two weeks!  He's getting stronger too.  He likes to roll onto his side and he gets pretty frisky when we try to change his diapers-and that can lead to some pretty messy situations.

Last week, Henry's newest little cousin was born, and we are so excited for them to meet and become best buddies!  Her name is Jolie Kay, and she is absolutely adorable-congrats to Josh and Lindsay!

And, finally, we will be heading to Rapid City tomorrow to visit Austin's family and friends!  We are all pretty excited--some of them haven't met Henry at all yet.  I have a break from school and Austin got some time off, so we are staying the whole week.  Should be fun!

And here's Henry practicing his I-have-my-grandparents-wrapped-around-my-little-finger-and-all-I-have-to-do-is-turn-on-the-charm-so-they-melt-into-a-big-gooey-puddle-and-give-me-whatever-I-want face.

ZZZ!

Henry slept through the night for the first time!

D.H. Lawrence sums up how I feel quite nicely:

"And if tonight my soul may find her peace
in sleep, and sink in good oblivion,
and in the morning wake like a new-opened flower
then I have been dipped again in God, and new-created."

or in other words.......wooohooo!

ps-I did have to get up a couple times just to make sure he was breathing :)
