red white AND baaaalue.

happy fourth everyone!
we had a nice relaxing day at home as a little fam bam.
and what do we do to celebrate?  we EAT.  a lot.  as you will soon see.

this is how i got my patriotism on :)
making chocolate dipped strawberries
YUM!  austin is already trying to come up with an excuse to make more of these.  Labor Day?  hmmmm too far away.  maybe just to celebrate Thursday?

we were all about sweets!  henry had his first ice cream cone! well.... a coconut cream vegan cone-ha :) sprinkled with red white and blue of course!
and he loved it-- perhaps it was the novelty of eating it--especially since it seemed to be a good snack on the go and didn't require sitting still in a highchair.  he stayed parked on the front stoop for only a few moments
 and then he was off!
he did have a little difficulty holding it upright all the time though....
...which can be crucial for cones as you know.  oops.
oh no
so he took his empty cone to austin, said all done and nabbed up his daddy's fresh cone with a nice dollop of cream still on top :)
haha, this is what austin got in the trade :)
dear henry, may you always enjoy the simple pleasure of a little something sweet as much you did this fourth of july :)  love, mama

:)
more goodies--we grilled corn on the cob for the first time and it was fab
the grillmaster.
Then we went to austin's grandmother's home to watch fireworks.....or just hang out until henry was ready to go to sleep which was before the fireworks started :)

hanging with gramma M on the deck in his jammies
 and conor too!
henry, being the caring and concerned individual he is, also helped conor remember where his nose was located.
in fact, henry is planning on creating a public service announcement soon, we're just looking for funds right now.  so if you would like to donate to "the more you know nose" cause, just call.

ps~henry says baaalue for the color blue :)

psps~ the coconut ice cream (vanilla bean flavor) was yummy in our tummies (mine and austin's) too!  not bad for a non-dairy option--and healthier too :)   although....sometimes, you just need the good fattening stuff :)
anywhooooo, if you're interested in sampling for yourself, here is what spoiled henry's sweet tooth:
